Shan Brittany Martens and Bria Shan Hensley

She was born June 19, 1986 in Martinsville, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Martens and grandfather, David Martens.

She is survived by her boyfriend, Brad Steven Hensley of Bassett; her mother and stepfather, Alysa and Greg Harman of Princeton, West Virginia, her grandparents, Joyce Martens of Princeton, West Virginia, JoAnn and Billy Ball of Princeton, West Virginia, and Bob and Jill Caramenico of Mooresville, North Carolina.

Her daughter, Bria Shan Hensley, 9 months old, of Bassett, also died on May 10 with her mother.

Bria was born July 30, 2014 in Roanoke, Virginia, and was preceded in death by her mother, Shan Brittany Martens, her grandfather, Richard Martens, her great-grandmother, Shirley Hensley, and great-grandfather, David Martens.

She is survived by her father, Brad Steven Hensley of Bassett, paternal grandparents Bobby and Robin Hensley of Bassett, maternal grandparents Alysa and Greg Harman of Princeton, West Virginia, and paternal great-grandparents, W.C. and Jean Gilley, and Henry Hensley, all of Bassett. Also surviving are maternal great-grandparents, Joyce Martens of Princeton, West Virginia, JoAnn and Billy Ball of Princeton, West Virginia, and Bob and Jill Caramenico of Mooresville, North Carolina, as well as an aunt, Jill Delong of Bassett, Virginia.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 P.M. on Friday, May 15 at Collins Funeral Home, Bassett, VA. A short memorial service will follow with Pastor Joseph Salmons officiating.

A graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Princeton, West Virginia at a later date.
