

She was born June 9, 1914 in Patrick County to John A. Washington and Ellen Roberson Washington, both deceased.
Mrs. Thornton attended Life Tabernacle Church. She worked for Stanley Furniture Co for more than twenty years and finished her working career with Martin Processing with fifteen years of service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, King Edward Bryant and second husband, Steven Anderson Thornton, Jr., one daughter, Iris B. Garner, one son, James Bryant, several sisters and brothers.
She is survived by her sons, Donald Bryant of Stuart, John Bryant and his wife Louise of Fieldale, VA, and David Bryant and his wife, Teresa of Henry, VA; thirteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, April 8, 2010, at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home Bassett Chapel with Reverend, Garry Hazelwood, Harold Fitzgerald and Isaac Starke officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home Bassett Chapel.
