

John W. (Jack) Dailey, Jr., 90, of Cedar Creek, passed away unexpectedly at his home on December 5, 2015. He was born in Kansas City, Missouri, on December 1, 1925. Subsequently his family moved to Texas, where he graduated from Waco High School. Jack enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1943. After returning from service in 1946, he attended The University of Texas at Austin and completed a B.A. in Economics. Jack married Virginia Lee Flood in Waco in 1949, and they made their home in Austin until moving to Bastrop County in 1975. He worked in management at the University Co-op for 38 years before retiring in 1990 to spend more time with his family. He was an avid gardener and also enjoyed traveling, reading, and woodworking.
Preceded in death by his parents, John W. Dailey and Ruby Straley Dailey Steed, and granddaughter, Katy Dailey, he is survived by his wife, Virginia Dailey; sons Kevin (Angie), Brian (Charlene), and Regan (Kelly); daughters Erin Hanna (Chad), Eileen Evans (Andy), Sheila Bowman (Ron), Kathlyn Dailey (Zach Ryall), Shannon Boatright (Bob), and Danica Frampton (Stan); fourteen grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, at Marrs-Jones-Newby Funeral Home in Bastrop, followed by recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 11, at Ascension Catholic Church, Bastrop, followed by interment at Fairview Cemetery.
