In April of 1947 Lee was discharged from the United States Army, having served his country under honorable conditions. Lee married Retta Lee Stephens in Garden City, Texas on October 1st 1955. They had 6 children.
Lee was a master carpenter. He was a member of the Local Carpenters Union 1266 since 1954. His knowledge of carpentry has spanned four generations. He taught his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren his trade.
Lee was a life long member of the Church of Christ. He was a long time member of the Fairview Church of Christ and at one time served as a Deacon. More importantly, Lee Moore was a loving father and a prime example of a Christian man. He was a very patient grandfather. Nothing made him happier than having a house full of people. Lee had a wicked sense of humor and no one was safe from his jokes and being picked on. He was a devoted husband and a prime example of how a husband should treat his wife. When Retta was diagnosed with Alzheimer's in 2005, Lee was a devoted caregiver. Everyday he would help Retta dress, eat, shower and bring her to the living room to be around family. Every Sunday they continued to go to church until the last month of her life. Lee cared for her in their home until the day she passed. Lee and Retta's love was the epitome of their vows “in sickness and health”.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Retta Lee Moore and son Russell Lee Moore.
Lee is survived by sister Nelda Watts, five children, Steven Lee (Sue), Douglas Lee (Kimberly), Debra Lee (Roger), Tommy Lee (Janice), Loretta Lee (Ragen); sixteen grandchildren, Russell Moore (Nicole), Rachel Lavender (Chad), Matt Moore, Andy Moore (Martina), Shirley Miller, Daisy Moore, Michael Moore (Sara), Kathleen Knebel (Braden), Brooke Moore, Logan Davidson, Justin, Kaylee, Hannah and Ethan Green, David Moore and Sheryl Kelso; fourteen
