

Preceeded in death by her husband, Col. Samuel A. Chaney. Survived by daughter Karen Chaney of Craig, Colorado, daughter Patty and her husband Kent Hausman of Colorado Springs, Colorado, daughter Linda Boyd of Littleton, Colorado and daughter Terri and her husband Fritz Hocker of Bastrop, Texas, grandchildren Nick Hausman, Chris Hausman, Lindsey Hausman, Kelsey Boyd, Connor Boyd and Haley Hocker, sister Ann Haffer and brother-in-law Chuck Haffer and brother Terry Gaiser.
Nancy was born in Avoca, New York on October 2, 1935. She received her nursing degree from Ohio State University where she met and married a young doctor, Samuel Chaney, in 1956. Nancy raised four daughters while traveling the world as an Army wife. She was a caring and generous wife, mother and grandmother, a loyal friend to many and an animal lover. Nancy was a certified dog trainer in San Antonio who moved to Bastrop after the death of her husband. She loved to encourage and share her children’s and grandchildren’s adventures and accomplishments and was an enthusiastic supporter of the Bastrop County 4-H K-9 Cadets, from whom she received the 2012 Friend of the 4-H Award. She died on October 9, 2013 after a brief illness.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Nancy’s name to the Bastrop County 4-H Club.
