

"Adie Basil "Bob" Rogers, Jr., a native of Jackson, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away Monday, December 18, 2017 at the age of 92. He was the cherished husband of the late Genevieve "Gen" Rogers for 50 years before her death in 2003. Loving father of Mrs. Donna Katherine "Kakie" Rogers Cox and husband Allen, Mrs. Leigh "Anne" O'Quinn and husband Mike, Mrs. Linda "Gayle" Galasso and husband David, Elizabeth Scott "Libby" Distad and Lucy Glenn Rogers. Also survived by 12 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, his brother's children, Vickie Benton and husband Frank, Mike Rogers and wife Nelda and a host of extended family and friends. Predeceased by his brother, Raymond Rogers and his parents, Kate Boone Worthy Rogers and Adie Basil Rogers, Sr. Mr. Rogers was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy being honorably discharged after World War II. Bob was a member of First United Methodist Church of Baton Rouge. He worked for Guaranty Income Life Insurance Co. for nearly 50 years as Controller/Treasurer and served on the Board of Directors. He continued working after his retirement in 1996 as a Financial Consultant until 2015. Mr. Rogers was a friend of Bill W.'s for 40 years, living life through the 12 steps, serving as sponsor for many. He was a board member of the Baton Rouge General Hospital for many years and was also a member of the American Legion Post 0038. Bob had achieved the honor of Life Scout and served as Scoutmaster in his young adulthood. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 9:30 AM until 11 AM. The Funeral Service will follow in the Sanctuary. Graveside services will be on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 2PM in Arcadia, LA. Pallbearers are grandsons, Ryan O'Quinn, Michael Galasso, Brandon O'Quinn, Joshua Galasso, Jeremy Galasso, Jacob Galasso and Matthew Distad. Honorary Pallbearers will be longtime friends George Foster, Johnny Cutrer and Bridger Eglin. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Louisiana Methodist Childrens' Home, P.O. Box 929, Ruston, LA 71273.
