
A retired general surgeon and a resident and native of Baton Rouge, he passed away Friday, Jan. 23, 2009, at Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet. He was 84, born on Nov., 3, 1924, in Baton Rouge. Dr. McInnis was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of St. James Episcopal Church, the American Medical Association, and Baton Rouge Country Club. He graduated from Tulane Medical Center in 1947 and practiced medicine in Baton Rouge from 1955 through 1988. He enjoyed all outdoor sports and shared his passion of hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nona Reddy McInnis; his children, Catherine McInnis Healey and husband Bill Healey, Adrian Kell McInnis III and wife Betty Jo, all of Baton Rouge, George Michael McInnis and wife Allison, of Mandeville, and Taney McInnis Brown and husband Cleve, of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister, Frances McInnis Fish and brother-in-law, Russell Fish, of Baton Rouge; grandchildren, Catherine Domenick and husband Michael, Clinton Magherini and husband Alessandro, Carden Cole and husband John, John Taylor Bennett Jr. and wife Ginger, Adrian Michael McInnis, Andrew Louis McInnis, Walker Cleveland Brown III and wife Jennifer, Erin Kelley Brown and Lauren Adrian Brown; and great-grandchildren, Hayes Domenick, Brooks Domenick, Madison Magherini, Andrew Magherini, John Taylor Bennett III and Grace Addison Bennett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian Kell McInnis Sr. and Frances Burton McInnis. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home chapel, 825 Government St., on Monday, Jan. 26, from 10 a.m. until religious service at noon, conducted by the right Rev. James M. Coleman. Internment in Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be John Taylor Bennett Jr., Adrian Michael McInnis, Andrew Louis McInnis, William Healey, Walker Cleveland Brown III, Mark McInnis, M.D., Walker Cleveland Brown Jr. and Richard Byrd, M.D. Honorary pallbearers are Hansen E. Scobee, Millard Byrd, M.D., O.M. Thompson, M.D., Raymie Edmonds, Huntington Odom and Tommy Raggio, M.D. The family wishes to extend special appreciation to Dr. Eugene Berry and Dr. John McClelland, along with the staff at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Bluebonnet and Katie Reinan.
