On Sunday, September 25, 2022, Albert Theobald Salzer, Jr., loving husband and father of five children, passed away at the age of 87. Albert was born on January 15, 1935, in New Orleans, LA, to Albert Sr. and Isabel (Saizon) Salzer. He graduated from Baton Rouge High in 1953, the same year he met Kathryn Ann Spinosa at the Wedge Kyes basketball tournament. Albert and Kathryn were married on September 25, 1954. They raised two sons, Albert III and Charles, and three daughters, Karyn, Sharyn and Lynda. Albert worked for Red Stick Linen for five years before moving on to Allstate Insurance, where he was an agent for 40 years before retiring in 2005. Albert had a passion for LSU sports, particularly baseball, and he and Kathryn were season-ticket holders for 34 years. In his younger days, he loved playing basketball and was a starting guard on Baton Rouge High’s 1953 state championship team. As he grew older, he began playing racquetball and golf. Family was a vital part of his life, and throughout his years he maintained a close relationship with his older brother, Edward. Family vacation trips to Florida, when all five children were young, were among his favorite memories. Albert was known for his upbeat personality and his sense of humor. Albert is preceded in death by his father, Albert Sr.; his mother, Isabel; his son, Albert III; and son-in-law, Mike Placek. He is survived by his wife Kathryn; his children, Karyn Placek, Sharyn and partner, Carl Fontenot, Lynda Carbo and husband, John, and Charles; his daughter-in-law, Kelly Laughlin Salzer; his brother, Edward and wife, Joan; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
