Alex Patterson “Pat” Ainsworth, 89 years of age, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on January 4, 2022. Pat was born in Leggett, Mississippi, on May 7, 1932, to John Ainsworth and Merle Fridge Ainsworth. As a child, he moved with his family to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he lived for the rest of his life.
After graduating from Baton Rouge High School, where he was an athlete, lettering in track, football and baseball, Pat enlisted and served in the United States Navy in the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge, Pat returned to Baton Rouge and married Patricia “Pat” Goff Ainsworth, on December 22, 1954. They recently celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary. Pat retired from the petro-chemical industry after working as a lab technician for 27 years. He then went to work for East Baton Rouge City-Parish Wastewater Treatment from which he retired after working there for 20 years. During his time working for the City-Parish and for many years after retiring, he was an active member of the LA Water Environment Association, serving as President for several terms. Pat was a professional show dog handler and was a very active member of the Baton Rouge Kennel Club for over thirty years, serving many times as President, Vice-President and various other event and committee chair positions. Additionally, Pat was an avid LSU sports fan, and he enjoyed attending football, basketball and baseball games for many years. Most of all, Pat was a loving and devoted husband and father, and a great example of how a husband should treat his wife, how a father should love his children, and he will be greatly missed.
Pat is survived by his wife, Patricia Ainsworth, his son, Rev. Robert Ainsworth and his wife, Angela Breaux Ainsworth; his three daughters, Cindy Ainsworth Creel Raiford and her husband, Danny Raiford, Charlotte Ainsworth Didier Seymore and her husband, Keith Seymore, and Sherri Ainsworth Barrilleaux and her husband, Michael Barrilleaux; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on January 10, 2022, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, at Rabenhorst East Funeral Home, 11000 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm. Burial will follow the funeral at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA.
