
She was a retired employee of Sears with 25 years of service. Alice was a native of South Bend, Ind., and a resident of Baton Rouge. She died at 1:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at The Carpenter House. Alice was 86. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Wednesday, March 2, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday in the chapel from 10 a.m. until religious service at noon, conducted by her son, the Rev. Bobby Hamilton. Interment will follow in the Hungarian Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Albany. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, George W. Hamilton; two daughters, Carolyn Hamilton Lee and husband Michael, Patti Hamilton Nohra, both of Baton Rouge; two sons, Bobby Hamilton and wife Jill, of Conway, Ark., Eddy Hamilton and wife Leslie, of Carrollton, Texas; six grandchildren, Cindy Hooper and husband Brad; Julie, Jonathan and Michael Hamilton; Kelly Seal and Jodi Nohra and fiancé' Kyle Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Brandon and Lauren Hooper, Kiley Taylor; dearest friends, Jody Duke and Darlene Logan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Malvina Steiner Varga; son, Stan Hamilton; brother, Joe Varga; grandson, Chris Lee. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jonathan and Michael Hamilton, son-in-law, Mike Lee, along with Ron Logan, Brad Hooper and Kyle Taylor. Alice was a longtime member of Baton Rouge International Folk Dancers and Hungarian Historical Society. Memorial donations may be made to The Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice.
