
Our loving mother, grandmother and dear friend passed away at St. James Place on Thursday afternoon, March 22, 2007. She was 83 and is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Linfield Singer Jr. and Cheryl of Baton Rouge and Elwyn Dwight Singer and Martha of St. Francisville. Alice Hart was preceded in death by her husband, Robert L. Singer Sr.; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Dwight Phillips. She was a graduate of Baton Rouge High and attended LSU where she was a member of Chi Omega sorority. She enjoyed her affiliation with the Junior League and Downtown Development District. Alice Hart was a true Southern lady who enjoyed cooking and hosting parties for all her good friends. Gardening, traveling and dancing were also her passions. She is survived by her granddaughters, Sarah Beth Gagnon and husband Jeff of New Orleans and Margaret Ann Ruebsamen and husband Kris of Geismar; grandsons, Elwyn Dwight Singer Jr. and wife Mary Margaret of Baton Rouge and Robert L. Singer III and wife Melanie of Bryson City, N.C.; four great-grandchildren, Elwyn Dwight Singer III and John Hart Singer, both of Baton Rouge, Gabriella Anne Gagnon of New Orleans and Anna Katherine Ruebsamen of Geismar. Her family wants to sincerely thank Janice and the staff of Memory Enhancement at St. James Place for their gracious and loving care. Pallbearers will be Robert L. Singer III, Elwyn D. Singer Jr., Jeffrey Gagnon, Dr. Kris Ruebsamen, Robert B. McCall and David Norwood. Honorary pallbearers are Henry Singer, J.D. Dabadie, Harry Barton, Joe Simmons, Terry Singer and David Singer. Visiting will be held at St. James Episcopal Church on Monday, March 26, from 11 a.m.until a service at noon, followed by interment inRoselawnCemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Services of the Capital Area, 3772 North Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA70806 or the American Diabetes Association.
