

Alida Bishop Casey, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away January 27, 2025, at the age of 95. She was born on November 6, 1929, in New Orleans to parents, Crawford and Elmyra Bishop. Alida enjoyed cooking, gardening, entertaining, sewing, and most of all, spending time with her family. She was a retired teacher, member of Tri Sigma Sorority, ADK, and a decades long volunteer for St. Vincent de Paul and The Baton Rouge Eye Auxiliary.
She is survived by her children; Catherine Casey (Patrick), Caren Kavanaugh (Mark), Candace Carter (Mark), and Pat Casey (Katherine); grandchildren, Casey Champagne (Adrienne), Candace Hayhurst (Trevor), Kristin Marler (Robert), Brian Carter, and John Casey, Jr. (Diana); great-grandchildren, Natalie, Jackson, Brooklyn, and Emma Hayhurst; Cooper, Casey, and Matthew Marler, Jack and Robin Casey, and Grace Carter. Preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, John P. "Jack" Casey, grandchildren, Sara Sandifer and Alex Carter, and great-granddaughter, Ramsey Marler.
Pallbearers will be Casey Champagne, Brian Carter, Robert Marler, Trevor Hayhurst, Morrie Bishop, and Honorary Pallbearer, John Casey, Jr.
A visitation will be head at Our lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge, LA, on Thursday, January 30, 2025 from 9:00 am until Funeral Mass time of 10:00 am. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family would like to thank the staff at Lake Sherwood Village and The Hospice of Baton Rouge. In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed in Alida's name to Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church or The Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
