Allen G. Carlton

A resident of Central, he passed away Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at the Carpenter House of St. Joseph Hospice after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 70 and a native of Baton Rouge. Allen had retired as an operator with Georgia Gulf. Allen is survived by his daughter, Sandra Elaine Carlton, whom he lived with and loved with all his heart. Also survived by a special dachshund pet, "Sophie," whom he adored; sister, Dottie Cason and husband Michael; brother, Thomas Carlton and wife Edna; and special longtime friend, Carol Jones. Words cannot describe how we will miss him. His family thanks all our friends and neighbors who have comforted them and the staff of Carpenter House for its wonderful care and compassion for my dad and special thanks to Dr. Michael Castine. Allen was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Allen Carlton; mother, Dorothy Grimmer Carlton; and sister, Janet Carlton Nickens. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, April 21, from 10 a.m. until service at 2 p.m. conducted by Jeff Lee. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Thomas Carlton Sr., Thomas Carlton Jr., David Carlton, Thomas Carlton III and Jonathan Irvin. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Carpenter House.
