

A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, he passed away Saturday, Dec. 17, 2011, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center at the age of 86. A retired tank truck salesman with Exxon, he was a native of Church Point and a resident of Greenwell Springs. Visitation will be Monday, Dec. 19, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., with a rosary beginning at 7 p.m., and Tuesday, Dec. 20, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Entombment will take place in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Mausoleum, Church Point, at 2 p.m. His six sons will serve as pallbearers. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Pauline Daigle Smith; and his parents. He is survived by two daughters, Paula Phillips and husband Keith, and Angie Hetrick and husband Robert; six sons, Carl Smith and wife Faye, Allen Smith, Jr. and wife Karen, Don Smith and wife Jill, Blaine Smith and wife Carolyn, Dan Smith and wife Kathy, and Les Smith and wife Angela; sister, Ethel Thibodeaux; 20 grandchildren, Jimmy, Jenea, Samantha, Timothy, Markus, Sara, Ben, Jennifer, Christian, David and Micah Smith, Kasey Watson, Thomas, Steve, Matt and Trace Smith, Mary Ann and Adam Phillips, Rachel and Zach Hetrick; and eight great-grandchildren. Our daddy enjoyed his life to the fullest from camping, dancing, laughing, Cajun music, making accordions and was always ready for a good bowl of gumbo. Some of his last words were, "I've had everything." We celebrate his life and rejoice. He will be with Jesus, our Mother and his loving parents
