A native and resident of Baton Rouge, she departed this life on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007. She was 84, born Aug. 30, 1922. She resided at The Guest House and, as all those who knew her would verify, was very out-spoken and independent. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Bobby Breau; six grandchildren, who affectionately called her "MaMa Monkey," Karen Fournet, Randy Breau, Barry Breau, Michelle Fisher, Tony Lewis and Melissa Lewis; and a sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Henry Hatcher. She was preceded in death by her son, John Emmett Lewis; parents, John Alexander Babin and Amelia Paetz Babin; three sisters and two brothers. The family extends a special thanks to all the angels at The Guest House for their loving care. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Tuesday, Feb. 20, was from 5 p.m.to 8 p.m.Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Wednesday from 9 a.m.until religious service at 11:30 a.m., conducted by Monsignor Gerald Lefebvre. Pallbearers will be Pete Arceneaux, Randy Breau, Barry Breau, Kirk Fisher, Marc Fournet and Frank Hardison.
