A native and resident of Baton Rouge, she died Friday, June 4, 2010, at home surrounded by her family. She was 70, a devoted mother, grandmother and friend, and a devoted Christian who relied on her faith. Visiting at St. Joseph Cathedral on Tuesday, June 8, from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m., celebrated by the Rev. Paul Counce. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. She is survived by her former husband, Frank Messina; three daughters, Phyllis Messina, Ashley Messina and Mary Olinde and husband Randy, all of Baton Rouge; two sons, Frank Messina and wife Staci, of Denham Springs, and Jeff Messina Sr., of Baton Rouge; two sisters, Dolores Dartez and husband Lloyd, of Houston, and Margaret Curley, of Maryland; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas R. and Margaret Murray Curley; and a great-granddaughter, Patricia Anne Dees. Pallbearers will be Frank Messina, Jeff Messina, Randy Olinde, Travis Olinde, Jeremy Olinde and Jeff Messina Jr. She will be cherished and missed by her friends and family.
