
Our loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend departed this world on Friday, Feb. 23, 2007. Although our hearts are forever broken, we know that he is at peace in God's arms. He leaves behind loving family and friends whose lives are richer for knowing him and being loved by him. His gentle nature and kind heart touched the lives of every person he met. Dr. Collett was born on May 20, 1934, in Bogalusa. He was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Justin Collett Sr.; mother, Frances Sances Collett; and older brother, Samuel Joseph Collett. Dr. Collett is survived by his beloved wife, Odette Charbonnet Hixon. They loved each other deeply and were best friends. They were blessed with five children, Anthony Justin Collett III and wife Audra, William Hayden Hixon Collett and wife Janice, Christopher Paul Collett and wife Marnie of Bozeman, Mont., Odette Collett Roy and husband Jeff of Lafayette, and Michele Collett Teagle and husband Mike of Kingwood, Texas; and eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Roy Jr., Thomas Roy, Michael Teagle, Katherine Teagle, Annemarie Teagle, Peyton Collett, Parker Collett and Emma Collett. He is also survived by an older brother, Ned Victor Collett of Bogalusa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Dr. Collett was educated in Bogalusaand upon high school graduation he received a full academic scholarship toTulaneUniversityin New Orleans. After completing his bachelor of science degree he enteredTulaneMedicalSchooland received his medical degree in 1959. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Collett completed his internship at Touro Infirmary in New Orleansand completed his specialty residency in urology at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans. He moved his family to Baton Rougein 1964 to begin his medical practice. Dr. Collett was an active member of the American Urological Association, South Eastern Section of American Urological Association,AmericanCollegeof Surgeons, American Medical Association and Louisiana State Urological Association. Dr. Collett was a past president of the Louisiana State Urological Association and past president of the Board of the Gatlinburg Golf and Racquet Club and Condominiums in Tennessee. He was a member of Downtown Kiwanis Club. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Sunday, Feb. 25, from 4 p.m.to 6 p.m.A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave., on Monday, Feb. 26, at 11 a.m. Entombment in St. Gabriel Catholic Church Cemetery, 3625 La. 75, St. Gabriel. Pallbearers will be Samuel Collett, Ned V. Collett Jr., Robert Cangelosi, Joseph Cooper, Anthony Graphia, Thomas Barfield and Louis Koerner. Honorary pallbearers are Jeff Roy, Jeffrey Roy Jr., Thomas Roy and Mike Teagle.
