

Anthony Ellis "Tinker" Farris, Sr. was born in Shaw, Mississippi and a lifetime resident of Baton Rouge, LA. He passed away on Thursday, May 23, 2024, at the age of 93. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. As a devout Catholic, he was a founding member of St. Thomas More and St. Louis King of France parishes. He also was a charter member of St. Thomas More Knights of Columbus council 5530. He served as a commentator (Lector) for many years. He was a member of the Catholic High men's club, a past member of Baton Rouge Rotary and Sherwood Forest Country Clubs. He was a graduate of Catholic High School and received a degree in mechanical engineering from Louisiana State University. Additionally, he served in the Army during the Korean War as a First Lieutenant. Survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Rita Tullier Farris, sons Anthony (Andy) Jr. & wife Kendra, Michael & wife Laura, Daniel & wife Ann, and daughter Lisa Farris Deer of Denham Springs. Grandchildren Andrea Farris Palmer & husband Michael, James Farris & wife Shannon, Parker Farris & wife Emily, Rachel Stansbury & husband John, Jake Fontenot, Remy Fontenot, and Elise Farris. Great-grandchildren Luke Palmer, Melody Palmer, Campbell Farris, Ava Stansbury and Mia Stansbury. He is also survived by his brother, George E. Farris, Jr. & wife Julia. Preceded in death by parents George E. Farris, Sr. and Zula Ellis Farris, sisters Margaret Farris Bayhi and brother-in-law Alfred A. "Buck" Bayhi, Eloise Farris Persac and brother-in-law Robert J. Persac, Sr., and Sr. Mary Ann Farris, CSJ. His greatest joy in life was his family his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed all the many get-to-togethers that were shared with relatives and friends. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024, from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, celebrated by Father Jeff Bayhi, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial to follow in Green Oaks Memorial Park. The pallbearers will be his grandsons and nephew, James Farris, Parker Farris, Michael Palmer, Jake Fontenot, John Stansbury, and Matt Bayhi. He will be greatly missed by all and will continue to live in our hearts and minds.
