Anthony Dwight Pitcher

Anthony Dwight Pitcher, born April 22, 1958, to the late Charles Lee Pitcher, Sr. and Mary Ellsworth Pitcher in New Orleans, LA, and raised in Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025. A man of many names, from birth Anthony was affectionately known as Dwight by all who knew him. He will be remembered for his big personality and for all the love he shared with his family and friends. He truly loved each of them- and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity and strength. He will be missed dearly. Dwight served in the US Army from 1977 to 1980. He was stationed at Fort Richardson near Anchorage, Alaska, for two and a half years. He loved the outdoors and always spoke of his time there fondly. Dwight is survived by his loving wife, Celeste Marie Richard; son, Anthony “Scooter” D’juan Pitcher; daughter, Madeline Marie Pitcher; stepdaughter, Aisha Charleston; grandsons, Aasim and Ahmir Pitcher, Jermaine Charleston, and Jayden Brown; brother, Charles “June” Lee Pitcher, Jr.; and sister, Angela (Alvin) Miller. Dwight is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Lee Pitcher, Sr. and Mary Ellsworth Pitcher; his brothers, Kenneth Joseph Pitcher and Byron Christopher Pitcher, Sr.; his sister, Cheryl Pitcher LaBorde; his paternal grandparents, Willie "Kidd" Pitcher and Olga Lucille "Genie" Pitcher; and maternal grandparents, Phillip Ellsworth Sr. and Thelma Honoré Ellsworth. Pallbearers will be Jamal Braggs, Jermaine Charleston, Christopher Guillory, Andre LeBlanc, Darrius Pitcher, and Brandon Thibodeaux. Honorary pallbearers include Christopher “Peewee” Joseph, Alvin Miller, Jr., Jefferson “J.P.” Paul, Jr., Anthony “Scooter” Pitcher, and Charles “June” Pitcher, Jr. A visitation for Anthony will be at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 865 Hatchell Ln., Denham Springs, LA, on Friday, February 14, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 PM. A graveside service with military honors will immediately follow at Louisiana National Cemetery, 303 W. Mt. Pleasant Rd., Zachary, LA.
