"Arden Joseph "A.J." Simoneaux, a native of Donaldsonville and a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at the age of 88. A.J. graduated from Ascension High School and attended Southwestern University. A.J. then enlisted in the United States Army and was a Staff Sargent during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the United States Postal Service, as a Tour Superintendent. He enjoyed working in his yard and especially loved to travel. A.J. was devoted to very much loved by his family, who will miss him dearly. He is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Marie Simoneaux; his daughter, Wendel Anne Garcia and her husband Garry; and a nephew Alfred Landry and his wife Dot. A.J. is preceded in death by his father and mother, Sabin and Marguerite Simoneaux; sisters, Margaret Simoneaux and Marian Simoneaux Landry; and brother-in-law, Pete Landry. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at St. Jude Catholic Church, from 9am until Mass of Christian Burial, celebrated by Rev. Trey Nelson. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Serving as Pallbearers will be Alan Pesch, David Mahaffey, Gene Branum, Brian Delatorre, and Steve Garcia.
