

BARBARA CHADWICK HILL MARKEY, affectionately known as BUMBLEBEE, passed away on October 23, 2024, at the age of 92 peacefully in her daughters' home in Lakeland, Louisiana. Born on November 27, 1931, in Burnham, Maine, she lived a life marked by devotion to her family and community.
Barbara was a beloved member of Faith Baptist Church in Livonia, where she was known for her unwavering commitment to church activities, especially those involving children. Her joy in organizing the Easter gathering, working in the kitchen, and preparing candy bags for Halloween was evident to all who knew her. Her love for the outdoors, fishing, crabbing and picking pecans were among her cherished pastimes.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughters Gloridean Hill and Glenda Major, stepson Mike Traylor Markey, and her special friend Janice Ross Davis. Barbara's legacy continues through an abundance of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband Joel Glen Hill and her second husband Joseph Markey Jr., her parents Ivan and Marion Chadwick, her brothers Lyle, Floyd, and Reggie Chadwick, sisters Marilyn Chadwick and Arlene Herrick, her sons Joel Ivan Hill and James B Hill, stepson Joseph Markey III, sons-in-law Roger Major and Henry Spencer, and grandson James Henry Spencer.
A service to honor her life will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Livonia, Louisiana, on October 28th, 2024 with visitation beginning at 9 am with services immediately following. Rabenhorst Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, LA, is assisting the family during this time. Barbara's kindness and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. The family would like to thank Pointe Coupee Hospice and their amazing nurses.
