Born in Alexandria, Louisiana on February 26, 1949, Bette was the daughter of the late Robert Lee Brown and Sarah Elizabeth Brown. She was preceded in death by her son, Scott Hinckley.
Bette is survived by her siblings, Mark Brown and Janey McCormick, her husband of almost 50 years, Rey Hinckley, her daughter and son-in-law, Kate and Charlie Waltman, and her cherished grandchildren, Benjamin and Caroline Waltman.
A dedicated and passionate educator, Bette spent more than 30 years as an elementary school teacher. She held both a bachelor's and master's degree in elementary education and had a lasting impact on the lives of countless children throughout her career.
A service to honor and celebrate Bette’s life will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Monday, January 27, 2025. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM, with the funeral service beginning at 2:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local educational charity of your choice in Bette’s memory.
She will be remembered for her kindness, dedication, and the love she gave to those around her.
