
Betty Jane Folse Lewis Bennett, a former East Baton Rouge Parish schoolteacher, died peacefully, surrounded by family in Baton Rouge, Monday, Feb. 22, 2010, and is now joyfully reunited with numerous loved ones who predeceased her, including her parents, Earl Jennings Folse and Vivian Louise Dill Folse; husbands, James Willard Lewis and Julius Means Bennett; grandson, Nicholas Jennings Lewis; and great-grandson, Henry Leslie Fuqua Pecue IV. She was the beloved mother of Sara "Sally" Louise Lewis Ginsberg, of New Orleans, James "Jack" Earl Lewis, Richard Folse Lewis, Jane Ann Lewis Alexander, Mary Vivian Lewis Williams and Robert Christopher Lewis, all of Baton Rouge, mother-in-law of Michael Alan Ginsberg, Lisa Holzenthal Lewis, Beverly Aucoin Lewis and Mark Wayne Alexander, stepmother of Mandy Bennett Graneury, Jeffrey Bennett and Billy Bennett, and sister of Mary Folse Hillery, of New Orleans, and Marilyn Folse Williams, of Point Clear, Ala. She also leaves behind 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous devoted nieces and nephews. Her family extends special thanks to St. Joseph's Hospice for the loving care they provided Mrs. Bennett in her final months. A funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church on Friday, Feb. 26, at 10:30 a.m., with visitation at the church beginning at 9 a.m. Graveside service at 1 p.m. Friday at Ascension Catholic Cemetery, Donaldsonville. Services under the direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St. Masses preferred in lieu of flowers, or donations to St Jude Children's Research Hospital or a charity of choice.
