
"Betty C. Waller, a native of Makanda, IL and longtime resident of Carbondale, IL, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2019, at the age of 90 after residing in Baton Rouge, LA for the last six years. Betty retired from SIU-C University Housing in 1986 where she was a housing manager and managed the Towers, Thompson Point, Evergreen Terrace, and other properties. She was a member of both the Murdale Saddle Club and a founding member of the Shawnee National Forest Nine-Day Trail Ride. She was a quilter and enjoyed crocheting. She also enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers. She is survived by her sons: Lt. Col (Ret.) Steven Waller and his wife Deborah of Baton Rouge, LA, and Michael Waller and his wife Betsy of Evanston, IL. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, which she considered to be the best blessings in her life. Her grandchildren are: Lt. Col. Brian Waller and his wife Carrie of Yokota, Japan; Lt. Col. Jon Waller and his wife Sarah of Joint Base MDL, NJ; James Waller and his wife Jennifer of Manhattan Beach, CA; Jason Waller of New Orleans, LA; Jessica Waller Burke and her husband Austin of Chicago, IL; and Christopher Waller and Rochelle Bailis of Santa Monica, CA; and her great-grandchildren are: Steven and Samuel Waller of Yokota, Japan; and Luke and Joshua Waller of Joint Base MDL, NJ. Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. "Worm" Waller; as well as her nine sisters and brother. Graveside services will be held on Sunday, April 28, 2019, at 10am, at Pleasant Grove Memorial Cemetery in Murphysboro, IL. Betty's family would like to express thanks to Pinnacle Hospice and the staff at Old Jefferson Community Care Center of Baton Rouge.
