Bobbie Joe Harrell Sr, age 94, resident of Central, LA, born 04/15/1928 in Tyler Texas, peacefully passed away on 12/31/2022. Bobbie was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, LA. He served in the US. Navy in WWII in the Japanese Occupation, he also served in the US Army, Air Corps and Army Reserve. Bobbie retired from LA State Corrections and was a former deputy sheriff for East Baton Rouge Parish. He loved spending time with his family, camping with BR Camper’s Club, fishing and watching t.v with his favorite dog Mindy. Bobbie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Joann Achord Harrell, his step son, Ben Saclo ( Bentena), Bothel, WA, daughter Vickie Populus (Terry), Independence, LA, son, Bobbie Joe Harrell Jr (Laura), Amarillo, TX, daughter, Deborah Thornton (late Dewayne), Pine Grove, LA, daughter Barbara Saclo Matthews (late Chris,MD), Kingsport, TN, daughter, Cynthia “LuLu” Saclo (McBride), Central, LA, daughter, Toni Maria Harrell, Central, LA son, Richard Harrell (Tammy) Walker, LA. Bobbie is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 33 Great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Aubrey and Lenora Smith Harrell, In laws Brice “BB” and Lucille Achord, step-son, James Hutchinson Jr, grandson, James V. Matthews, siblings Grover Harrell, Velna Harrell Dawes, Jim and Jack Harrell. Visitation will be at Rabenhorst East, Saturday January 7, 2023 from 11:00-1:00pm. Funeral service will be at Rabenhorst East, Saturday January 7, 2023 at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers- Richard Harrell, Harrison Wright, Josh Roubique, Scott Simmers, Shawn Phillip Landry, Shawn Tosh, SR. Honorary Pallbearers- Bobbie Joe Harrell, Jr. Toni Maria Harrell, Shawn Tosh, Jr and Tyler Strickland. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Michelle Thomas, RN, for her selfless, loving care for 2 years, The LA Hospice & Palliative Care and Toni Maria Harrell for her constant TLC day and night.
