He worked for Exxon as an electrician and retired in 1982. A resident and native of Baton Rouge, he passed away Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at his residence at age 86. He was U.S. Navy Seabees World War II veteran. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East chapel, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Aug. 22, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Survived by his wife of 64 years, Ruby Lee Kelsch Turnley; daughter, Teri Lynn Day and husband Michael S. Day; two sons, Charles R. Turnley Jr. and wife Gayla, and Daniel W. Turnley; brother, Edward V. Turnley and wife Louise; five granddaughters and seven great-grandchildren.
