

Charles “Charlie” Edward Tullier, Sr. left this world to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 21, 2024. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness at the age of 95. He is survived by his five children, Charles Tullier, Jr. (Julie); Patrick Tullier (Renee); Theresa Tullier Reis (Louis); Cathy Tullier Fauntleroy; and Angela Tullier Haydel (Carl). Charlie also leaves behind ten grandchildren, Louis Reis IV (Elise), and Jonathan Reis; Christina Fauntleroy Martin (Ryan), Melissa Fauntleroy, and Ashley Fauntleroy LeBlanc (Patrick); Michael Tullier (Julie), Brian Tullier (Fae), Devin Tullier (Fallon) and Philip Tullier; and Amelia Haydel; and eight great-grandchildren, Sophia, Iris, and Eva Reis; Matthew and Madeleine Tullier; Aeris LeBlanc; and Walter and Everett Martin.
He is also survived by his siblings, Margaret T Landry, Rita T Farris (Anthony “Tinker”), all of Baton Rouge, and brother Joseph “Cal” Tullier(Earline), of Nederland, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A resident of Baton Rouge and a native of Brusly, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Marie Bourg Tullier; parents, Paul A. Tullier, Jr. and Amelia Crochet Tullier; step-mother Ethel Guerin Tullier; son-in-law Donald Fauntleroy, and great- granddaughter Ivana Martin.
He was a WWII veteran in the United States Navy. Charles worked for Allied Chemical in Baton Rouge for more than 30 years until his retirement. He was a natural handyman with a wide variety of skills. He stayed active, always willing to help family, friends, and the church with projects large and small. Above all, Charlie loved spending time with his family.
He was an active parishioner of Our Lady Mercy Catholic Church and was involved in many church, school, and community organizations. He was an active member of the church’s Usher Society, a member of the Mercy Hall of Fame, and a former member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 4030. He served 17 years as Cub Master for the Our Lady of Mercy Boy Scouts organization. He was also highly involved with the Baton Rouge Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting. He was awarded the Silver Beaver by the Boy Scouts of America. In 1976, Charles and his wife, Marie, were presented with the Sertoma Service to Mankind award. The couple also ran the church’s Sunday morning nursery for many years.
He will be remembered as a kind and generous man, who loved his life, faith and family.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Friday, April 12, 2024, from 5:00pm until 8:00pm, with recitation of the Rosary at 7:00pm. Visitation will resume at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge, LA, on Saturday, April 13, 2024, from 10:00am until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
