

Cynthia Ann Karwick (née Gaztambide), age 86, passed away peacefully in her home on December 21, 2025, in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Born on February 27, 1939, in New Jersey. Cynthia lived a life marked by unwavering love for her family and community.
Cynthia devoted most of her professional life to serving others as a Registered Nurse. Her commitment to caregiving extended far beyond her career—she was known for her selflessness and generosity, always ready to provide for those around her, whether family or friend.
She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Karwick Jr. and a devoted mother to her daughters, Tanya Karwick and the late Lara Karwick Nalley. Cynthia’s legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren and their spouses: Gage and Morganne Karwick, Austin and Brit Decoteau, Gabrielle and Jacob Cunningham, Chaz Decoteau, Morganne Rogers, Jordan Rogers, and April Powell. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren: Sookie, Sailor, Presley, Cooper, Wren, Caisley, Everlee, Wesley, and Marlie.
Family was at the heart of everything Cynthia did. She never missed a family event and cared deeply for each generation that followed her. Her constant companion in later years was her beloved dog Maggie.
Cynthia had a lifelong passion for bowling and treasured the friendships she built through the sport over many years. She continued to bowl regularly until just a few months before her passing—a testament to her enduring spirit and love for camaraderie.
Known for always being impeccably dressed from head to toe in matching outfits, Cynthia brought grace and style wherever she went. Her presence lit up every room she entered.
Her memory will be held close by all who knew and loved her. As written in Matthew 5:4: “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.”
A graveside service will be held at Greenoaks Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, La, 70815, on Monday, February 16, 2026, at 1pm. Please arrive no later than 12:45 in the main lobby of the funeral home so we may drive together to the graveside.
