
Daniel Robert Madden, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away after an extended illness on Saturday morning, Nov. 29, 2008. He was a devoted husband and a kind and gentle person who never spoke ill of anyone. He loved football, especially the LSU Tigers and he also loved the U.S. Marine Corps. He was born in St. Louis, Mo., on Feb. 2, 1933. He was a member of the 1952 graduating class of Catholic High School. He retired from the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve after 27 years of service during which he served with the 3rd Marine Division in Korea from 1953 to 1956. He retired from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development in 2001 after 40 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Janice Helouin Madden; brothers-in-law, Charles A. Brown, of San Antonio, and Alvin Delaune, of Baton Rouge; sister-in-law, Dora Madden, of Austin, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph P. and Josephine Madden; brothers, Joseph P. Jr. and Terrence Madden; and sisters, Roseanne Brown and Rita Delaune. Mrs. Madden would like to thank Dr. Edmund Vinci and Dr. Glenn Schwartzberg of the Baton Rouge Clinic along with their nursing staff. She extends a special thank you to Candi David, his home care nurse, for her care and kindness during his illness. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Dec. 1, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Parkforest Drive at Parkmeadow Avenue, on Tuesday, Dec. 2, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
