

Daniel L. Wisenbaker Sr., age 90 passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 25th, 2023 surrounded by family. He was a short-term resident of Crestview, Florida where he lived with his son but was a longtime resident of Baton Rouge. Daniel was born in Tyler, Texas on March 28th, 1932. After completing his education in Houston, Texas, he moved to Baton Rouge where he met and married the former Mary Nell Matthews. Shortly thereafter, he joined the United States Air Force where he completed a 21-year career and retired as a Master Sergeant. He and his wife returned back to Baton Rouge where he soon began a second career working for the State of Louisiana in a division of the State Police as a Capitol Police Officer.
Daniel is survived by two sons, John Dee and wife Irma of Baker, Louisiana and Michael Wayne and wife Jennifer of Crestview, Florida; two brothers Fred and wife Kathy and David and wife Ann; grandchildren Ronnie, Chelsea, Jessica, Daniel III, Matthew, Mary Ann, Kathryn Schmidt and husband Zachary, Brandon, and Patricia; as well as four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. And a multitude of nephews and nieces.
Daniel was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years Mary Nell Wisenbaker; sons Daniel L. Jr and Karl Victor; parents Lorenzo and Ethel Irene; siblings Glen Ray, Ruth Gessner and Mary Lee Hoofer.
