Daryl U. Rushing passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016, at the age of 75 after struggling with Lewy Body Dementia in the final years of his life. Shortly thereafter, a private service was held for the immediate family. Daryl succeeded his father as owner of the family business, U.U. Rushing and Son's Flooring in the 1960s. He ran the business for over 50 years out of Baton Rouge until he passed the torch to his son, Michael, who now operates it out of Denham Springs, LA. Daryl's uncommon work ethic and genuine love of people earned him both customer loyalty and the respect of those who knew him. If you're from Baton Rouge, chances are either you or your parents have shared a good laugh with Daryl in the kitchen during one of his beloved in-home estimates. Outside of the business, Daryl was a devoted husband, a proud father, avid golfer and a proud graduate of Istrouma High School. His greatest loves include: his dog, his business, a bowl of ice cream in front of the TV, and his wife Brenda, in no particular order. In addition to Brenda Dean Rushing "“ his wife of 54 years, whom he worshipped "“ Daryl is survived by his three sons, Bryan S. Rushing, Michael D. Rushing and wife Angela of Denham Springs, David J. Rushing and wife Stacy of Atlanta, GA; and six grandchildren, Brynt M., Derek L., Bryce J., Caitlyn M., Taylor M., and Ethan S. Rushing. He was preceded in death by his parents, U.U. Rushing and Etruie McMorris Rushing. Daryl's determination and fortitude, which were hallmarks throughout his life, were never more evident than when life was hardest for him, during the peak of his illness. He is truly an inspiration for his family. Daryl's family is beyond grateful for Hospice of Baton Rouge, which made his final days as comfortable and respectful as they could possibly be.
