David Anthony Chauvin was born September 18, 1950, to Clay and Una (Melancon) Chauvin in Baton Rouge, LA. David was the youngest of 12 children, something that he was very proud of. Being the baby in such a large household with 6 sisters, he was bound to be spoiled. It’s said that he was an adorable blond, curly-locked cupid.
David graduated from Glen Oaks High School in 1968. He began his career in pipefitting out of Local 198 and progressed to pipe design. He often said he went from “fitting the pipe to drawing it”. His career included work experience at many different locations throughout the chemical industry, and he took great pride in his work.
He and Donna Dickinson married in May of 1974 and made wonderful memories together for over 53 years. David loved sports, travel, and had a knack for building and fixing things. He was a talented handyman.
David is survived by his beloved wife Donna, and 8 of his 11 siblings: Linda Chauvin Legleu (Stanley), Gail Chauvin Montelaro (Louis), Errol Chauvin (Joyce), Ronnie Chauvin, Ruth Chauvin Bolourchi (Beau), Carol Chauvin Ortego, Carmen Chauvin Hano, Hubert Chauvin (Betty), and numerous nieces and nephews that he adored.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Una and Clay, brothers Howard and Gordon, and sister Thelma Bergeron.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Service, to be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815, on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 AM. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
