

Our beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away unexpectedly Thursday, March 5, 2015. A resident of Baton Rouge, David was born December 16, 1933 in Jena, Louisiana. He moved with his family to Port Arthur, Texas where he lived his formidable years. David served his country overseas in the U.S. Army. When he returned, he attended and graduated from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. In 1966, he moved to Baton Rouge where he gained employment with Ethyl Corporation as an engineering inspector until his retirement in 1996. Survived by his loving wife of 57 years Jo Ann, sons Mark and wife Gayle, Brad and wife Karen, Darrell and wife Yvette, and Brian. Six grandchildren Ryan, Megan, Kyle, Brett, Cailyn and Jessica and sister Janice St. Onge and husband Jerry. Preceded in death by son David and granddaughters Kristin and Keri. After retirement, he loved to travel with his wife Jo Ann. He enjoyed golf, hunting and fishing. David was also an avid LSU and Saints fan and was thrilled that he lived to see the Saints win the Super Bowl. David loved to cook and share his talents with his family and friends, who devoured his dishes with praise and enthusiasm. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and his beloved Cairn terriers, Abby and Chip who will miss him greatly. Special thanks to Dr. Kate Castle and staff at Mary Bird Cancer Center and Dr. Vince Cataldo, Dustin Denicola and staff at Oncology and Hematology of Baton Rouge for their extraordinary care. Pallbearers will be sons and grandchildren. Visitation at Rabenhorst East Chapel Monday, March 9 from 10 am until services at noon, conducted by Pastor Dave Buss. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to Mary Bird Cancer Center of Baton Rouge, 4790 Essen Lane.
