

Dennis Michael “Cowboy” Ricard, a resident of Houston, TX, and a native of Baton Rouge, LA and Irvine, CA, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Heart-to-Heart Hospice Center, at the age of 76. Dennis was born in Convent, LA, on April 2, 1949, to Marion Folse and Hubert Ricard, Sr. Dennis was the 2nd of 8 children. He graduated from Redemptorist High School in Baton Rouge, LA. He followed in his dad’s footsteps as a skilled carpenter and foreman for several years. He was a devoted Catholic and a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Houston, TX. He was a loving son, father, grand/great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Dennis loved to dance, especially two-stepping to his love of country music, and was beloved by many for his caring heart and friendly personality. He is survived by his loving children, Sean Ricard (Jennifer), Karli Wells (Ross), Kami Avery and daughter-in-law Chasity Ricard; grandchildren, Bayleigh (Zack) and Reagan Ricard, Sydney and Johanna Wells, Swade and Chad Marcus Ricard, Jr., Tommy Bates, Walker and Garrett Kelly (Abigail), and Noah Jasso; great-grandchildren, Brantley, Nevaeh, Kieran, Elijah, and Lily; siblings, Hubert Ricard, Jr., Deborah Patin, Jeanne Patin (Kenneth), Milissa Rozier, Roberta Darensbourg (Joe), and Carmel Domingue (Hank). Dennis is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Ann (Blanchard) Ricard; son, Chad Marcus Ricard, Sr.; parents, Marion Folse and Hubert Ricard, Sr.; sister, Suzanne (Ricard) Wise; brothers-in-law, Robert Wise and Victor Patin; grandparents, Josephine Poree’ and Numa Folse, Sr., Lydia Verrett and Gilbert Ricard, Sr.; aunts, uncles and other family members. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, 445 Marquette Ave., Baton Rouge, LA, with visitation, including Rosary at 9:00 am followed by Mass at 10:00 am. A private burial will be at Greenoaks Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in honor of Dennis’ legacy. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all family and friends for all their prayers and support during this time. They also wish to thank his doctors and nurses for their dedicated healthcare and special thanks to Heart-to-Heart Hospice Center for all their love and support to Dennis and family.
