As a project manager, Oren traveled extensively, overseeing ammonia plant retrofitting projects around the world. Even after retirement, he continued to consult in his field and contributed to the installation of dehydrators, helping to simplify water extraction in liquid ammonia production. Gifted with multiple talents, Oren was a master duplicate bridge player, frequently recognized in the Bridge Bulletin for his tournament achievements. He loved playing and watching sports, especially football, golf, baseball, and tennis—and was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of players and statistics. Known as an excellent problem solver, Oren used his sharp analytical mind to develop practical solutions. Oren was known for his appreciation of good food and was a great cook, often relying on his family's recipes and his beloved River Roads cookbook. In his later years, he found joy in gardening and relaxing on the back patio, taking in the beautiful views of the lake and surrounding nature. He delighted in watching birds, deer, and even the occasional alligator, all in the company of his pet cats while enjoying his coffee and reading the newspaper and bridge books. A graveside service will be held at Greenoaks Memorial Park 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815 on Saturday January 10th 2026 at 2pm.
