
"God lovingly called him home August 7th, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's. He was born in New Orleans on August 28, 1925. A devoted husband, grandfather and great-grandfather who served his country proudly in WWII aboard the USS Wharton. Owner of Dowty's Machine Works, he was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Francis Reich Dowty, his parents Albert and Mae Dowty, and a grandson Jared Hooper. He is survived by a son, Donald Dowty Jr., and Jill, daughter Suzanne, Grandchild, Kari and Peyton and Great-grandchildren Brittany, Bryce and A'nyah. His brother, Albert Dowty, and many nieces and nephews. His adopted sons and daughters are Danny Gaspard, John Furlong, Lance Bates, Aubrey Richard, Kirk Broussard, Michael Allen, Kenny Kohler, Michael Kennedy, Sandy White, Dianne and August Webber, Norman Smith, Bill Foulks, David Ratcliff, and Debbie Elkins. A special thanks to his devoted caregiver and angel from heaven, Mrs. Carol Barbier. Services will be at St. Isadore Catholic Church Wednesday.
