
A retired Ethyl Corp. tool room operator, he died at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at his residence in Baton Rouge. He was 83, a native of Ames, Iowa, and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, May 21, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visiting resumes in the funeral home chapel on Friday, May 22, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 9:30 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Ian McFadden. Burial with military honors at Port Hudson National Cemetery. Survived by his wife of 38 years, Julia Chidester Jacobson, of Baton Rouge; daughter, Donna Murphy, of San Antonio; two sisters, Betty Bell, of Walker, and Pat Stringer, of Baton Rouge; brother, Stanley Jacobson; and four grandchildren. Preceded in death by his son, Dale Jacobson. Pallbearers will be Leslie Leibenguth Jr., John Leibenguth, Judd Delcambre, Mark Leibenguth, Kyle Leibenguth and Chase Leibenguth. Honorary pallbearers are Collins Leibenguth, Stephen Jacobson and David Jacobson. Donald was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and a lover of motorcycles.
