Mr. Jones served in the US Navy on the USS Intrepid. He was known as “Mr. Onan” by many in the Baton Rouge area and was an avid outdoorsman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Verda Jones; two brothers, Wayne Jones and Homer Juban; three sisters, Doris Brown, Clarice Brister and Lois Thibodeaux.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Carolyn Jones; son, Donald L. Jones, Jr. (Tammy); daughter, Laura Jones (Kenneth); two grandchildren, Cody Jones (Holly) and Clint Jones; three great grandchildren, Daniel, Hazel and Leila Jones; two brothers, Ray Lloyd Jones (Marilyn) and Cecil Floyd Jones (Evelyn); sister, Audrey Nichols and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
Visitation will be from 5:00pm to 7:00pm Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at Greenoaks Funeral Home-9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Services will be at 10am Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at Greenoaks Funeral Home with interment to follow at Redwood Cemetery in Slaughter, LA.
