

Donna Ruth Loop Hill, a native of Brownsville, TX and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Sunday October 25, 2015 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center at the age of 82. She was born in Brownsville, Texas on February 7, 1933, attended El Jardin High School where she was a cheerleader, class valedictorian and was awarded a scholarship to Texas A&I of Kingsville, Texas. She was an avid fisherman, played the piano, like to play bridge, cards and dominos. Donna married Dale Hill on January 1, 1951. Together they had six children; Sharon, Kenny, David, Randy, Rick and Steve. In 1958, Dale and Donna moved to Baton Rouge where they both worked for E.W. Saybolt Co. Inc. where Dale served as vice-president of inland waterways with Donna as his administrative assistant.
She was preceded in death by her parents George Herman Loop and Cora Inez Bickerdike Loop, a sister Elaine Loop Coulter and a brother Kenneth Dale Loop.
Those left to cherish his memories are her husband of 64 years, Dale H. Hill; her 6 children , 16 grandchildren – Sherrie Walling, Lisa Shaw, Jared Shaw, Evelyn Wahrman, Beth Hill, Rachel Hill, Abby Hill, Joshua Hill, Benjamin Hill, Jonathon Hill, Matthew Hill, Timothy Hill, Carissa Dewitt, Ryan Hill, Rebecca Hill and Stephanie Hill; 19 great grandchildren – John Walling, Jake Walling, Kayla Shaw, Avery Miller, Wyatt Wahrman, Kylee Hill, Madison Hill, Cora Neal, Davis Neal, Cash O’Neal, Kaiden Hill, Arianna Hill, Rivers Hill, Hawken Hill, Kahealani Hill, Oshen Hill, Lola Hill, Stella Hill and Annie Dewitt; and 1 great grandchild – Brantley Hill.
Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation which will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Thursday October 29, 2015 from 10am until funeral service begins at 12pm. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park. Funeral services will be officiated by Brother George Threeton, Senior Pastor at Greenwell Springs Baptist Church where Donna was a member.
Donna’s family would like to thank you for your prayers. She fought a long hard battle after a stroke and other complications that were too much for her to overcome. She is now without any pain, made whole again and in a much better place than this. Praise the Lord!!!
