

She was educated in the Baton Rouge Public School System and graduated from Capital High School in 1958. She later attended Southern University, furthering her education.
In the early 1960s, Dora began her family with Adolph Fernandez Jr., with whom she had three children: Adolph T. Fernandez and Thaddeus G. Fernandez, and a daughter, Ella Fernandez, who was stillborn. In 1964, she relocated to San Francisco, California. In 1967, Dora married George Wiley, and to this union one son, Roland R. Wiley, was born.
Dora’s Christian faith was an important part of her life. She accepted Christ at Little Rock Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and remained grounded in her faith throughout her life. In 1976, she rededicated her life to Christ and became a member of Double Rock Baptist Church under the leadership of Victor L. Medearis, where she remained faithful until her relocation to San Antonio, Texas. She was also a devoted member of the Order of the Eastern Star, where she remained committed to community service, fellowship, and the organization’s charitable and supportive works.
While residing in San Francisco, Dora was employed in sales at Emporium Department Store prior to joining the San Francisco Unified School District, where she served as a paraprofessional educator for 14 years. In 1987, she established Precious Kids Day Care, which she owned and operated, dedicating herself to the care and development of children in her community. In Texas, Dora came out of retirement and served at an assisted living and retirement community as a dining room and recreational supervisor, where she ensured residents were treated with dignity, respect, and compassionate care.
Dora spent her later years in San Antonio, Texas, residing with her son Thaddeus and his family, where she remained until her peaceful transition.
She was preceded in death by her children, Ella Fernandez and Adolph T. Fernandez; her husband, George Wiley; and her sister, Thelma Lee.
She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Thaddeus G. Fernandez (Patricia) and Roland R. Wiley Sr. (Desia); her grandchildren, Roland R. Wiley Jr., Terrance M. Wiley Sr., Trevon M. Wiley Sr., DeJon M. Wiley, Reiana G. Fernandez, Sevion L. Wiley, Elise G. Fernandez, Jaxon K. Wiley, and J’Adore Wiley; 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, La, on Friday, May 8, 2026 from 10am until funeral service at 11am. Burial will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
