

Doris Mildred Ricard Byrd, a loving, faithful, devoted mother, wife and sister, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 28, 2011, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson's disease. A housewife and lifelong resident of Baton Rouge, she was 87 and the oldest of 13 siblings. Survived by her husband, John E. Byrd Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Myrna Gale Jisr and Aziz Jisr, Scottsdale Ariz.; sons and daughters-in-law, Darell Byrd and Sharon Domingue Byrd, John Byrd and Kathy Halphen Byrd, and Kieran Jerome Byrd, all of Baton Rouge; sisters, Aline Bergeron, Baton Rouge, and Lucy Ann Lerma, Houston; brothers, Hubert Ricard Sr., Houston, Larry Ricard, Harbor City, Calif., Kirby Ricard and Gilbert Ricard, both of Baton Rouge, Edwin Ricard, Anderson, Ind., and Delmont Ricard, Parmount, Calif.; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Gilbert Ricard Sr. and Lydia Verret Ricard; daughter, Betty Ann Williams; two brothers, Lloyd Ricard and Aloysius Ricard; and three sisters, Barbara Jean Roberts, Audry Colsen and Elsie Cobb. Visitation at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 749 East Blvd., Tuesday, May 31, from 9:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. J. Clifton Hill, celebrant. Interment in Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd. Pallbearers will be Darell Byrd, John Byrd III, Jerome Byrd, Jonathan Byrd, Derrick Amar and Aziz Jisr.
