Douglas Edward Bourg

Douglas Edward Bourg died on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary. He was 48, the beloved son of Leola T. Bourg and the late Lawrence J. Bourg Sr.; and loving brother to Lawrence J. Bourg Jr., Judith B. Berry, Suzanne B. Audiffred and David J. Bourg. He was a lifelong resident of Baton Rouge. Douglas and good friends who shared his developmental disabilities were able to work and make their home together through the good work of Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries and Port City Enterprises. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the people of these fine organizations who meant so much to Doug and who did so much to enrich his life as well as those of his friends. Thanks also to the staff of Lane Regional Medical Center, whose tender care for Doug touched us deeply. Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Friday, Dec. 7, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. George Catholic Church, 7808 St. George Drive, on Saturday, Dec. 8, with visitation from 11:30 a.m. until Mass at 12:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries, 2101 La. 80, Haughton, LA 71037.
