A retired Ethyl Corp. employee, he died Thursday, Jan. 6, 2011, at the Baton Rouge General Medical Center-Mid City. He was a native of Wilkinson County, Miss., and a resident of Baton Rouge. He was 88 and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Visiting at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Monday, Jan. 10, from noon until the memorial service at 2 p.m. He is survived by two daughters, Joan Boeneke and husband Robert R. Boeneke, and Janice Washington; a son, Edward J. "Chip" Strickland Jr. and wife Sandra; a sister, Ruth Jenkins; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Norma Strickland; his parents, S.M. and Addie Botts Strickland; and a granddaughter, Heather Marie Strickland.
