
Emeline Middlemas Phillips died peacefully at her St. James Place home in Baton Rougeon Monday, Nov. 13, 2006. Affectionately known by many as Miss Emeline, she was a lady of true Southern charm and grace who will be fondly remembered by the large circle of friends and family whose lives she touched. Her wit and wisdom will live far beyond her passing from this life into the next. Her dignity and loyalty serve as a shining example for which many of us will strive, but few will achieve in our own lifetimes. She was deeply loved and will be sorely missed. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Christine Waters; nephew, Ray Waters and his wife, Mary, of Panama City, Fla.; and stepchildren, Bobby Phillips and his wife, Beth, Helen Phillips Rankin and her husband, Ed, all of Baton Rouge, Kay Phillips of California, John Robert Middlemas and his wife, Kendall, and Martha Middlemas of Panama City. She was predeceased by her husband, Hal Phillips; her first husband, Lott Warren Middlemas; and her brother, Henry Waters. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., on Thursday, Nov. 16, from noon to 1:45 p.m. Graveside service at Roselawn Memorial Park at 2 p.m. Thursday, conducted by the Rev. Chris Andrews. In lieu of flowers, Miss Emeline requested to be remembered by donations to either Hospice of Baton Rouge or the American Cancer Society. Bless you, Emeline. We miss you already.
