

Emma Marie Martin Glenny, 78, of Baton Rouge, died at home on July 6, 2015. Emma was born in New Orleans to Dora Odile Musson and Edmund Butts Martin on October 20, 1936. She attended Academy of the Sacred Heart and graduated in 1954. She went on to earn a Bachelors of Fine Arts in ceramics from Louisiana State University. She owned and operated Southern Pottery Equipment and Supplies of Baton Rouge for over 10 years. Emma was the great grand niece of the painter Edgar Degas. She enjoyed creating and repairing ceramics, painting and reading. She raised and showed Arabian horses for several years. She competed and medaled in the Senior Olympics, Archery. Emma is survived by her children Edmund Jefferson "Jeff" Glenny III, daughter Johanna "Jo" Martin Glenny and sister Dora Martin and Donald Miller and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Dora and Edmund; two brothers Edmund and David Martin; and her husband Edmund Jefferson Glenny II. Funeral mass will be held at St. Aloysius Catholic Church, 2025 Stuart Ave, Baton Rouge, on Saturday, July 18th. Visitation with the family at 1:00p.m. Funeral mass at 2:00p.m. In lieu of flowers, the New Orleans Museum of Art is accepting donations in memory of Emma Glenny.
