Gerald Hart passed away Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Ochsner Medical Center, Baton Rouge, at 7:50 a.m. He was 66 and a retired area maintenance mechanic with the U.S. Postal Service. He was a native of Brookhaven, Miss., and a resident of Baton Rouge. A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served with the U.S. Navy. Survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Karen Pilcher Hart, of Baton Rouge; mother, Rosa Hart Thomas, of Baton Rouge; daughter, Casie Lynn Hart, of Baton Rouge; son, E. David Hart, of Baton Rouge; brother, Danny Lee Hart, of Denham Springs; and numerous nephews and nieces. Preceded in death by his father, Emmit Jewel Hart. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., on Thursday, June 11, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. and in the chapel on Friday from 8 a.m. until service at 9:15 a.m. Interment with military honors at Port Hudson National Cemetery. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church and a former employee of BASF Wyandotte. In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to American Heart Associationor St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
