Estelle Tiner Montegudo

Estelle Tiner Montegudo, a lifelong resident of Zachary, died at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012. She was 90. She retired from the East Ba- ton Rouge Parish school system after teaching 4th and 5th grades for more than 20 years at Zachary Elementary School. She was a longtime member of Zachary United Methodist Church and the organizer and director of the first chancel choir at that church. Visitation at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, on Monday, Feb. 20, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at Zachary United Methodist Church, 4205 Church St., Zachary, on Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 9 a.m. until services at 11a.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Ralph Ford, the Rev. Ellen Montegudo and the Rev. Dr. Greg Davis. Interment in Red- wood Cemetery. She is sur- vived by a son, the Rev. Sid- ney Montegudo Jr., of Baton Rouge; daughter and son-in- law, Paula Montegudo Ford and the Rev. Dr. Ralph Ford, of Baton Rouge; family friend, Roger Samaha, of Baton Rouge; and five grandchildren, John Montegudo III and wife Tina, of Highland Village, Texas, Maxwell Lea III and wife Kellie, of Fort Worth, Texas, Adam Lea and wife Katie, and Katherine Montegudo Martin and husband Matthew, all of Zachary, and Philip Lea, of Charlottesville, Va.; and sister, Ethel Jean "Eppie" Parker, of Zachary. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, Whitley, Zachary, Preston, and Lucas Montegudo, Carter and Margaret Ann Lea, Louis and Emmie Martin and Grant Lea. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John S. Montegudo Sr.; an infant son, Thomas William Monteg- udo; parents, Morgan and Bessie Tiner; and three brothers, Charles, Norwood and Munro Tiner. Pallbearers will be her four grandsons, a nephew, Tom Parker, and grandson- in-law, Matthew Martin. The family would like to thank St. Clare Manor Nursing Home, Baton Rouge, especially the nurses and CNA's on 300 Hall, for the years of wonderful care given to her.
