

She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 40 years, Francis Lewin Fleming; her parents, William Raynor Slocum and Myrtle Lockhart Slocum; her brother, William David Slocum Sr; her sister-in-law, Mildred Swarner Slocum; and nephew, Thomas Clark Slocum.
She is survived by her three children whom she called her dearest possessions: James Alvin Roy Jr. (Buddy), Francis Randall Fleming (Randy) and wife Jameela Walker Fleming, Shirlynn Fleming Spillman (Sherry) and husband Jimmy Roy Spillman; three grandchildren, Theresa Roy Hodges and husband Donald Louis Hodges, James Michael Roy (Jimmy) and wife Marla Mancuso Roy, and Walker William Fleming; and eight great grandchildren, Brandon Chase Roy and wife Angela Lafauci Roy, Travis Michael Roy and wife Baileigh Shae Roy, Hannah Hodges Mathew and husband Jim, Emily Hodges Stephenson and husband Zachary, Mary Ellen Hodges Braud and husband Nick, Holly Hodges Fontenot and husband Patrick, William Harry Hodges, Charlotte Ann Hodges; eight great-great grandchildren, Cameron, Caroline, Peyton and Connor Roy, Luke and Wells Mathew, Mary Katherine and Benjamin Stephenson and Baby Braud on the way; one nephew, William David Slocum, Jr. and wife Jane Miller Slocum; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a Charter member of Oakcrest Baptist Church where she taught 4 and 5 year olds in Sunday School for years before she “graduated” and taught an Adult Ladies Class for over 40 years.
She was a member of the Quilt-Aholics quilting club in Clinton, La. She loved anything that had to do with LSU sports and Mike the Tiger. She was a proud member of the 1939 graduating class of Istrouma High School. She made many wonderful memories traveling and camping with her children, grandchildren, family and friends. She was a sweet and precious person and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, La. On Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 9:00-11:00 am with funeral service beginning at 11:00 am. Officiated by Ron Lambe and Jimmy Spillman. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
A Special thanks to Kacie, Kristen, Ametri, Sonya and Tanner with Audobon Home Health and Hospice, who were our Angels God sent to care for our Mom on this earth.
