

Aunt Frances, as she was lovingly called by her nieces and nephews, numerous grand nieces and nephews, and a few great grand nieces and nephews, has gone to join her husband, Leon A. Vicknair(from Plaquemine), her father and mother, Joseph and Mary Muffoletto, her three brothers and three sisters, Joseph Muffoletto, Vincent Muffoletto, Sam Muffoletto, Annie Cascio, Rosie Hernandez, and Mary Canella. She leaves behind her only child, Marilyn and her husband Dennis D. Strickland, and their only child Daniel, her grandson who was her pride and joy. She also leaves cousins Rose Mary Zecchel and Josie Lejeune. Frances, a native of Baton Rouge, died Monday morning, March 31, 2014, in her sleep at her daughter and son-in-law's home where she lived for 26 years. She was 97 ½ years old. Frances Muffoletto Vicknair was the last of the original Muffoletto Hot Tamale family. Visitation will be at 1:00pm Friday followed by services at 2:00pm at Our Lady of Mercy church followed by interment at Greenoaks Cemetery. Pallbearers will be representing her brothers and sisters. They are: Charlene Favre standing in for her grandfather Joseph Muffoletto, Joseph Vincent Muffoletto standing in for his father, Vincent Muffoletto, Samuel Muffoletto standing in for his uncle, Sam Muffoletto, Michael Landry standing in for his grandmother Annie Cascio, Jamie Hill standing in for his grandmother Rosie Hernandez, and Joey Canella standing in for his grandmother, Mary Canella. Special thanks goes out to LaDonna Nichols, CNA, Rose Givens, CNA, Chandra Riley, CNA and her Hospice nurse, Shannon Hebert, RN. We will never forget the wonderful care you gave Mama and the moral support you gave us. Family meant everything to Mama. She loved all of you very much. See you in heaven Aunt Frances.
