

Frankie Joseph LaPorte, native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away from melanoma cancer on Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the age of 70. Frankie graduated from Woodlawn High School, attended LSU and served in the National Guard. He was the owner and operator of a family business, Custom Paint and Body Shop, Inc. for 33 years. He also was a Reserve Deputy for EBR Sheriff’s Office for 35 years. He enjoyed golfing, playing drums, and flying his airplane. He was a devoted family man who loved to cook jambalaya and gumbo for his family and friends. He was always willing to help a family member or a friend with repair projects. He will be missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his son, Steven N. LaPorte and wife, Michele; daughter, Tina M. LaPorte; grandchildren, Nicholas J. LaPorte, Marisa M. LaPorte, and Evan Ritchie; sisters, Margaret L. Elgin and husband, Billy; Janet L. Willett and husband, Marvin; brother, Clyde J. LaPorte and wife, Carrie; special friend, Penny Pennington; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank Joseph LaPorte and Nellie LeBlanc Franklin. Pallbearers will be Hunter Langlois, Michael LaPorte, Mark LaPorte, Bo Langlois, Doug LaPorte, Clint Dobson, and Johnny Pourciau. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 from 5 to 8 pm. Visiting will resume on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 1PM at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church followed by a mass of Christian burial at 2PM conducted by Father Cleo Milano. Interment will follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. The family would especially like to thank the caring and attentive staff at Hospice of Baton Rouge.
